Though that is a dolphin as eosboy said, I have seen images of sharks doing the same thing. They tend to do this where there are seals or sea lions present.

Bottlenose Dolphins can range from 6 to 13 feet. I'd say this "animal" is between 6 and 13 feet. This isn't a shark buddy. And way to trash this site with your comments under Earnie's name.

For one, the dorsal fin indicates that it is a dolphin ( that curve is not present in sharks).Two the tail fin shows that it's a dolphin for sure, shark tail are vertical, this one is horizontal. And at last, the muzzle is too thin to be of any sharks.
Hence this is a Dolphin surfing the wave.

Though it is quite clear that the animal in question is a dolphin, I'll throw out another tidbit that of info that can be used to differentiate between larger sharks and dolphins - the animal in question lacks a second dorsal fin (a feature common to most larger species of sharks.)
