The people on the plane were watching the newscast of themselves trying to land. I was in an airport waiting to fly out of Phoenix when this was being aired live on CNN.

Worth noting that the Airbus A319/A320/A321 airframe series experienced a high number of nose gear failures of various types (67 or more recorded), although most (thankfully) didn't turn out as serious as the one above.
It's wonderfull that these folks didn't have something bad happen. I'm not so sure there was any pilot skill though. I saw it on the news. It looked more like a put the plane down and hope for the best kind of thing. It's nice that the pilot didn't panic I guess.
